Meet Our Team

K-W Seniors Day Program is an independently operated program with a volunteer board of directors that has been providing supports and services to older adults in the community and their families since 1974.

Our program staff include nurses, social service workers, and recreation therapists. They are trained and dedicated to providing a cheerful, accessible, and friendly environment to promote independence and self-esteem for our clients.

Deanne Gilles

Executive Director

Deanne has been the Executive Director of our program since 2007. She began her career with us as the Program Coordinator in 1991, but prior to this, she volunteered many years helping with the activities and programs. Her passion as always been to work with older adults and their families to support them in living at home for as long as possible. She believes the positive social interactions and meaningful activities are integral to quality of life, which is what the K-W Seniors Day Program supports!

Paula Ploj

Program Coordinator

Paula joined our program in 2007 as the Program Coordinator. She is the first point of contact for new clients and care partners joining our program. Paula manages the program waitlist, assesses and coordinates services for our clients, provides support to families and care partners, and offers supervisory support to our volunteers and students. Paula brings a “down-to-earth” attitude that our clients, staff and volunteers love!

Vidhi Goyal

Program Coordinator Expanded Program

Vidhi joined our team in 2018 as the Program Coordinator for our extended program. She supports clients and care partners and coordinates the waitlist and services for our Wednesday evening and weekend program. In addition to her nursing background, Vidhi brings creativity and passion to create a dynamic program for our clients.

Jessica Spataro

Board Chair

Jessica is a corporate lawyer practicing in the community at a local law firm. She loves to travel and volunteer in the K-W community. As the chair of the board, she oversees the monthly board meetings and works closely with the executive director of the program.

Lori Naylor

Treasurer

Lori is an office manager at a local law firm, and has been working in different law firms in the community for over 30 years. She joined the board in 2018 as she wanted to be part of a program that supports active, healthy aging for seniors where they feel like they can make friends and be part of an extended family.


Danielle Thibaudeau

Secretary

Danielle is a Health Promotion and Research Analyst at our local Public Health Department. Danielle is interested in community development and healthy aging and joined the board in 2014 as the board Secretary. She also manages our social media accounts!

Matthew Raines

Member

Matthew is a recent graduate from Wilfrid Laurier’s Lazaridis School of Business and works as Business Analyst at a Canadian Pharmaceutical company. Outside of work he enjoys spending time with friends and giving back to the KW community. Matthew joined the Board in 2017 to grow the fundraising initiatives of the program.


Christine Sheppard

Member

Christine is a social worker and a current PhD student at the University of Waterloo in the Aging, Health, and Wellbeing Collaborative Program. In her spare time, she does trick training and agility with her dog! Christine joined the board in 2016 to support the development and implementation of the organizations 2017-2020 strategic plan.


Tom Connelly

Member

Tom has a background in marketing and event planning and worked in the Office of the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario for 12 years. In 2016, he relocated to KW and began volunteering with our program playing piano for clients during lunch. He expanded his volunteering and was asked to join the board in 2017 to support our fundraising efforts. Tom currently works at Hospice Waterloo as a Special Events Coordinator.
